This book has everything I’ve come to love from Melody Grace, the book flows effortlessly from one chapter to the next with a fantastic story and loveable characters keeping you hooked right until the end, which just comes to soon, i couldn’t read it fast enough!
Brooke has left Chicago broken hearted, she had to get away quickly and took the first job she could get and ended up in the small town of Sweetbriar cove. Looking to make a fresh start she throws herself into her new job of managing a hotel which keeps her busy 24/7. Whilst out on a awful blind date which her friend managed to talk her into she see him, Riley Ford, the chemistry between them is instant but Brooke’s sworn off men forever. She can’t get over the guilt and pain from her last relationship but with one passionate kiss Riley is all she can think about.
Riley moved to Sweetbriar Cove to escape from his life two years ago and he’s never looked back. Owning his own bar, living on his boat, women at his beck and call, what more could a man want? But that kiss! he can’t get her out of his head, he wants Brooke but she just keeps pushing him away and wants to be friends, he can do that, right? Every time he sees her he keeps remembering their kiss, he wants it again, he wants more!
After spending more time with each other as ‘friends’ their feeling for each other increase until they are unable to stop themselves from taking things further, but its just a bit of fun, a causal fling, no one will get hurt!! Your heart doesn’t always agree with your head though, does it and things never run as smoothly as they’d planned them to be. Can they both get over their pasts or will it just keep eating away at them both, never allowing them to move on?
Sweetbriar Cove is full of characters from previous and I imagine future books in the Sweetbriar cove series, it can be read as a stand alone but I would definitely recommend reading the series. I was swept up into Brooke and Riley’s lives and can’t wait to read the next instalment.
