EXCERPT
Together, we stumble toward the elevator. Rich breaks away for a second to hit the button. The light doesn’t come on.

“Damn,” he growls, “it’s busted again.”

I’m one step ahead of him. I’d spotted the stairs when we entered. I grab his hand and pull him after me with no hesitation. I start up the cement stairwell, determined to get to his room as fast as possible.

“Penny, wait.”

I look back, confused. “What?”

A devilish smile plays on his lips. “Only this.” Without warning his hands wrap around my waist, and I’m  being lifted up as easily as if I were a doll. He turns to the side and presses my body against the wall, suspending me between him and the concrete.

His mouth crashes down on mine again. I curl my legs around his torso, locking my ankles together, and kiss him back with the passion reserved for a lover after ten long years apart. I didn’t think it was possible, but I’m getting even more turned on. Rich’s hands move down to grasp the outside of my thighs, and I moan into his kiss as the muscles of my core clench in sinful fashion. I want him so
badly. If we don’t get somewhere private soon, I won’t be wholly opposed to jumping him in public.

I gasp as he steps away, freeing me from the wall. I start to fall, but one of his hands darts down to catch me just beneath the knees.  The other one cradles my shoulders. Before I know it, I’m slung across his   arms like a bride on her wedding night.

“I’ve always wanted to carry a girl up these stairs,” Rich admits.

I laugh, and wrap my arm around his neck. “Oh, you are just the best type of romantic.”

Four flights of stairs later, Rich pushes open the fire door to a dimly-lit hallway. He carries me down the hall and stops in front of an entrance on the right. He sets me down, then fishes around in his jeans for the key. When the door creaks open, he sweeps a hand out in front of him. “Welcome to my humble abode.”

I walk in, curious about his apartment. I tend to side with the camp of people who believe that a person’s living arrangements can reveal a lot about his personality. But, I don’t find much to work with here.

The apartment is sparse and dark. Pale moonlight filters in through the balcony window, shining down on the only piece of furniture present: a queen size mattress lying on the floor of the living room. The red brick walls are totally empty—no girly posters or other things I might expect in a bachelor’s apartment. There are no lamps, no chairs, no couches.

After a moment, I notice a second piece of furniture: a small, old-school CRT TV camped in one corner of the studio apartment.

Rich switches on the light. “So?” he asks, “what do you think?”

I walk past the entrance. There’s one hall leading away from the room. It is filled with brown cardboard boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. “Did you just move in or something?”

Rich laughs behind me. “Yeah, something like that. You want a drink?”

“A drink?” I say. “No, I—”

The words catch in my throat as he grabs my hips and spins me around. I had no idea he’d come so close. He’d moved from the door to me without making a sound. His fingers lock together against my lower back, and he tugs me into him, pressing my belly to his waist. I feel his growing erection right away, and a diabolical excitement builds inside me.

Nothing happens.

For a long moment, Richard just holds me like that, staring into my eyes as I’m left dangling off his arms. His irises are the color of sea mist. I’m hypnotized by the deep intensity I see brewing just beneath the surface. I have no doubt that that type of intensity is mirrored in my eyes.

Then, moving slowly, as if restraining himself, Richard lowers his mouth to cover mine. This time, his kiss is sweet and gentle. Subtle and caring. He explores my upper lip first, then traces the line going to the corner of my mouth. His lips form a perfect mold over mine.

I was wrong before. This is the kiss reserved for a lover you haven’t seen in ten years.

MY REVIEW

Well let me tell you I was AK-47 blown away by girl with guitar Casey took me hostage until the last page.
great debut novel it had everything drama, angst, romance, music, hot guy pretty girl every thing I love in a book also a very solid story line.

I love Kylie she is strong, sassy, feisty, caring and funny.she deals with the hand she was dealt with maturity and never felt sorry for herself she just gets on with life trying to make the most of it; chasing her dreams with steel determination....that is until she meets country star and panty dropper Trace Corbin.....Hot as sin but boy does this man has problems.
she comes out of no where and basically hands him his balls reading him the riot act for his drunken selfish behavior....bad boy Trace finally meets his match.
Will they make sweet country music or will it end in disaster.....you will just have to read and find out
Kylie is not afraid of her sexuality, she might be pour but she is no saint or goody goody (I have not said that sine college) she set her sighs on what no who she wants and then she goes after it.....

AGAINST THE ROPES BY CARLY FALL RELEASE DAY

Title: Against The Ropes
Author: Carly Fall
Publisher: Bottom Drawer Publications
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance

Release Date: May 29th, 2013
Blurb:
Five years ago Dylan Gomez had it all. He was an up-and-coming boxer with a loving girlfriend, and his sights were set on the big league. Then he let the hype of the fans inflate his ego—he thought he was invincible. That all changed when an alcohol-fuelled decision altered the course of his life. He lost his girlfriend and then bit-by-bit his life crumbled around him.

Physical therapist, Regan Holloway, has coasted through life for the last five years. She’s been in the same place all that time and most of her things are still in boxes. Agreeing to a “friendly” date with a co-worker, she ends up ringside and face-to-face with the man she’d fled to forget—Dylan.

Dylan’s turning his life around and working his way back up the ranks; he’s got a big fight lined up in thirty days that will be his ticket back into the pros—if he can win. The only thing holding him back is an old shoulder injury and Regan not being by his side.

When Max, Dylan’s manager, convinces Regan to come with them and work on his shoulder for the fight, she knows she needs to keep things professional so that she won’t be hurt again.

In the thirty-day countdown to the big fight, secrets are revealed, their passion is reignited, and the past threatens to haunt their future. On fight day, Dylan and Regan are truly against the ropes.

Excerpt:
Feeling a little lightheaded from the wine, she opened the bathroom door and looked around for a moment to get her bearings. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a red duffle bag, and a shiver traveled down her spine as goose bumps crawled across her skin. Slowly, she turned.

Dylan strode toward her, his big body gliding through the crowd. At his side was his trainer, Max, carrying the red bag. She looked Dylan up and down. He wore loose, black sweatpants and a black t-shirt that hugged the ridges of his chest. Sweat glistened on his face and wet tendrils of black hair
were plastered to his neck. His dark eyes were focused straight ahead.

Was he fighting tonight?

Oh, no. Why hadn't she looked at the fight card?

Because she never thought in a million years that he would fight in a casino located in Indio,

California. His fights had always been held in larger cities, like Los Angeles or Las Vegas. Never

had he fought in a place like the small Dreaming Casino in the middle of the desert.

He hadn't seen her yet, and she tried to head back into the bathroom, but it seemed her feet

wouldn't move. She felt panic well within her as he approached, now about fifteen feet away.

His gaze fell on her, and she detected a hitch in his smooth gait. Their eyes locked as he

approached, and she felt as though she were about to be swallowed up by the massive man coming

toward her.

"So tonight you give it your best, Dylan," Max said as they passed, his eyes on the ground, as

usual. The man lived in his head, always planning to stay one step in front of Dylan's opponents.

"You just need to remember his right hook."

Dylan's gaze held hers, and she felt a long-forgotten sexual heat rip through her. As he passed, she caught the faint scent of sweat mixed with sandalwood, and she cringed when she recognized the scent of the soap he used. When Dylan had finally moved by her so that he couldn't look at her any longer, she closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose, wondering how she was going to get through the night. The man who had shattered her heart would be in fighting in the ring.

He's trying not to love her.
One night changes everything.

Aston Banks never meant to get close to Megan Harper – not even for that one night. Haunted by a childhood he refuses to face, he knew she could break through every wall he’d ever built and tear them down without even realising she was doing it.

Betraying Braden by starting a relationship with Aston wasn’t on Megan’s to-do list, but the second she sees a glimpse of someone other than the arrogant ass she’s come to know, she can’t walk away.

Aston’s childhood is worse than Megan ever guessed, but as he tries and fails to push her away, it’s clear her love is stronger than the demons that cling to him every day. And now, because of it, he finally has to deal with what he’s buried deep down.

What he doesn’t want to face. What he’s fought against for so long.

And they have to do it all without Braden finding out.

Keeping a relationship secret has never been harder.

**This book can be read as a standalone novel, but reading The Love Game (The Game, #1) beforehand is advised.)

EXCERPT:  Disclaimer: This is from the unedited version of the book, and is therefore subject to change or removal before publication.

MEGAN
“If you’re trying to hide, babe, then you’re failing. I can see you.” Aston’s words crawl over me in a smooth caress, making my throat dry up and my blood boil simultaneously.
“Why would I be hiding?” I sit up and look forward, determined not to meet his eyes.
He shrugs a shoulder carelessly, twirling a pen between his fingers. I catch his every movement from the corner of my eye. His eyes are burning into the side of my head - they’re begging me to turn, begging me to look.
“Because you want me so badly you can’t bear to see me,” he says in a dramatic tone with a touch of arrogance.
My back straightens. “Clearly someone has been feeding your ego again,” I reply dryly. “Because I don’t remember ever telling you I want you.”
His bicep brushes mine as he leans forward. “Is that so?” he asks, his voice low and barely perceptible.
I fight the urge to drop my eyes to the desk. “Damn right it is.”
A fingertip trails down the back of my arm, the tingling feeling making me fight against a shiver.
“I think you’re wrong,” he whispers. “Because I’m pretty sure you said you wanted me on Saturday night – right before you dug those nails of yours into my back and wrapped your pretty little legs around my waist.”
My head snaps round to him, and our faces are inches apart. His lips are curled in a slightly smug smile, and I hate the fact that’s where my eyes fell first. I drag them away from his mouth and across the sharp planes of his face until they meet his smoky eyes.
I remember why I didn’t want to look at him. His eyes have the power to entrance me and to break me. Right now it’s the former – the silvery hint at the edge of his iris pulling me in and holding me captive. I remember why, from the first touch of his lips against mine on Saturday night, nothing could have stopped us happening.

REVIEW

What can I say about Love Love....I don't even know where to begin....
The story held me captive from the very first page. Any book that starts out happy you can bet your ass that you are in for a rocky emotional ride. and that was exactly what I got.
The synopsis gave very little away which I loved I like the element of surprise.
The story is one of true Love, grief, discovery, and second chances.
From chapter one I had a feeling where this book was taking me and when we meet the adorable Brad I taught for sure I knew .....in walks Dane now I have no clue clue what the hell is going to happen.
Despite Dane's hotness and and panty dropping smile I liked Brad better I believed he and gabby were more suited, pity she did not see it that way.....at first.

After a very Hot steamy  relationship with Dane well not really a relationship just "Fuck Buddies"  in the words of Gabby.
Sex provided a distraction from her pain....but just how long can she keep running before she has no where else to run and her grief consumes her.
Brad and Gabby build a friendship over her morning coffee slowly they grow close until she stars to feel things she never taught she would feel again.
Beth really lets us understands Gabby and we can see her struggling with the pain she carries around on her shoulders daily
"there is no time limit on grief breath it, live it, let it seep into you, when you are ready and only when you are ready will you let it go" ~ Brad I love this quote it could not be more true and Brad also understands grief after having his own personal experience.
"I was happy in my little controlled life"~Gabby
she was only existing not living because living means having little control over events. to live is to experience all emotions: joy, sadness, sorrow, happiness, pain, hurt, anger, love.
"its easier not to feel, feeling leaves you venerable to so much pain."~Gabby
life cannot be lived without feeling..... that's not living.
really good read I love Fran she is a great friend her and Gabby are both their for each other  a pillar of strength for one another.
What Fran went through was just heart breaking and for her to be so incredibly brave and strong after all she endured was just inspiring.
Fear~ A distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain etc. whether the treat is real or imagined.
fear especially irrational fear which is born from true hurt and devastation has the powder to control your life.
coupled with family that does not accept you for who you are and constantly judging you. I wanted to strangle Gabby's mum such an evil vile women how can you not love your own child unconditionally and make them feel like they are not worthy enough to be loved? simply wrong.
The disappointment she believes herself to be in her families eyes plays a role in why after finally opening her heart she push away Love and hurt herself further.
she fears she will only end up being a disappointment to the man that has made her feel again.
Gabby is a wonderful person deserving of love and a second chance at happiness if only she could see that also.
Brad is wonderfully sweet he stole my heart with his kindness and love, he never gave up on the woman that revitalised him and broke into his heart taking root.  He proved his love  by fighting for what made him happy.
"I will give you space, but I'm going to fight like hell for you with every breath I have I will fight for you"~Brad

love the ending After that emotional journey if I did not get a happy ending I would have being pissed.
four happy starts from me.
